Cecil Williams Glide Community House

Glide Methodist Church, a congregation serving San Francisco's Tenderloin community under the leadership of Reverend Cecil Williams, obtained low-income housing tax credits in June of 1997, the final component of a complex financing plan enabling Glide to build 52 apartments for homeless families.

Under severe time constraints imposed by the tax credit program, Ben Golvin worked closely with Glide and BRIDGE Housing to develop and implement a taut construction schedule for this nine-story concrete building. Ben coordinated the work of the design team with pricing analysis from the general contractor and obtained all permits from the city, ensuring that the construction contract was executed within the established budget, and the construction began before year-end 1997. Ben oversaw the construction process and budget through to completion.

The Cecil Williams Glide Community House opened on time and within budget, and is the recipient of several design awards.
