Cavallo Point-The Lodge at the Golden Gate
ECB and its hotel partner, Passport Resorts were selected by the National Park Service for exclusive negotiations to develop a 142-unit lodge and conference center at Fort Baker, near Sausalito. Cavallo Point, located at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge is a stunning new addition to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The project includes the historic rehabilitation of 23 buildings for lodging and meeting rooms around the main Parade Ground and the construction of 11 small lodging buildings designed organically, with sustainable “green building”/historic rehabilitation principles guiding every aspect of the building’s construction and operation.
Cavallo Point is available for non-profit, government and corporate meetings as well as for individual travelers and family gatherings. The yearly schedule includes innovative programs on themes including the environment, leadership training, wellness, cooking, and the arts. The 200,000 square foot project located on 45 acres on the San Francisco Bay includes lodging rooms, 11,000 square feet of spa facilities, 15,000 square feet of meeting space, and a 90 seat full service restaurant.
ECB is the managing principal for all aspects of the project’s development, including negotiating a 60 year lease with the National Park Service, design, financing, and construction. ECB took the lead in successfully raising $38 million in equity, $49 million in construction loans, and $10 million in historic tax credit equity.
